Frequently asked questions

Is Pangobot free?

Yes. The free modules are not a trial and have no time limit. Some larger modules are premium and cost a one-time price per server - the list and the current prices are under Free and premium.

Is premium a subscription?

No. A premium module is bought once for one server and stays unlocked. Nothing renews.

Can I see a premium module before buying it?

Yes, completely: a locked module shows all of its settings in the dashboard as a read-only preview, and its page here lists every command and setting.

I bought a module for the wrong server.

Write to the team (the e-mail address is in the Legal Notice) with your Discord user ID and both server IDs.

Who can open my server's dashboard?

Members who hold Manage Server there - nobody else, and nobody from another server. The overview lists who changed what.

Does the bot read and store our messages?

Conversations are not stored: messages are looked at for what you switched on (AutoMod, logging, levels ...) and not kept - log entries and ticket transcripts go into your own channels. What is stored are IDs, settings and what members enter on purpose, such as form answers (deleted 180 days after the decision) and reminder texts (until they are delivered). The details are in the Privacy Policy.

Why does the bot need Administrator / so many permissions?

It does not need Administrator. It asks for the permissions its modules use (managing roles, timeouts, channels for tickets and voice rooms ...). You can take permissions away; a module that misses one says so in the dashboard's problem list.

Can the bot have our own name and avatar?

Yes, free: see Custom branding.

Where do I change the prefix?

Dashboard > Settings: General settings. Slash commands are not affected by it. There you can also switch on Prefix commands, so members can type a few slash commands as a message (!ban, !rank ...): see Prefix commands.

What happens when I switch a module off?

Its settings are kept, and switching it on again brings everything back. While it is off:

• Its commands stay listed and answer that the module is switched off.
• What it already posted keeps working where it matters: a ticket can still be closed, a report or Join Guard card can still be handled, deleted channels can still be restored.
• What it started is finished: temporary bans still end and running giveaways are still drawn.
• What it would do by itself stops: reminders that fall due are dropped, scheduled posts are skipped and no birthdays are announced - a birthday role given the day before stays on until the module is on again.

What happens if Pangobot is removed from the server?

Nothing is deleted: the settings and the unlocked premium modules are kept, so inviting Pangobot again brings everything back as it was. Work that was still waiting - a temporary ban, a giveaway, a lockdown - is put off and finished once Pangobot is back, for up to 30 days. The messages it posted stay in your channels, but their buttons do nothing while it is away. To have the data deleted, write to the team (see the Privacy Policy).

Does Pangobot speak my language?

Pangobot speaks English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Turkish, Russian and Japanese. The website, the dashboard and these docs follow the language you pick at the top of the page. What the bot posts in Discord follows your server's Bot language (General settings); what only one member sees follows that member's own Discord language.
