Good to know
- On YouTube and Reddit, safe search is on outside channels that are age-restricted in Discord. Wikipedia and GitHub have no safe search: there, searches that plainly look for adult content are refused, and results that look adult are left out (the footer says how many).
- Sources can be switched off one by one by their names - youtube, reddit, wikipedia and github; any other name is refused when saving. The command can also be limited to certain channels: threads and forum posts follow their channel, and a category covers its channels.
- Results are shown only to the member who searched wherever they could not have posted them themselves: in a channel they cannot write in (read-only, a timeout, a locked thread, or before they have accepted the server rules), when the search would break your AutoMod rules (an invite link, a banned word, too many capitals or emojis), and within the channel's slowmode - counted from their last search or message there. The footer says why. Everybody else sees the results in the channel as before.
- A result whose title or description breaks your AutoMod rules is left out of posts in the channel, and the footer says how many were left out. Members AutoMod ignores get all results.
- Limits: five searches a minute per member and thirty per server. YouTube also has a daily limit of 15 searches per member and 50 per server: YouTube gives Pangobot one small daily allowance for all servers together. The same search within ten minutes is answered from memory, without asking the site again. A YouTube search YouTube did not answer does not count, and a search refused by the server's limit does not use up the member's own.
- Reddit and GitHub also allow Pangobot only a few searches a minute for all servers together. When a site says that is used up, /search leaves it alone until it allows searches again and tells members when; the other sources keep working. Part of Reddit's allowance is kept for the Reddit feeds of Social.
- Searches for adult content are refused outside age-restricted channels, also when the words are disguised.
- Titles, names and descriptions from the sites, and the search itself, are shown as plain text: links, mentions and formatting in them do nothing. Each result links only to the site that was searched. Your AutoMod link filter does not cover those result links: if members must not share YouTube or Reddit links somewhere, switch that source off or limit /search to other channels.
