Minecraft Chat Free

The chat of your Minecraft server in a Discord channel and back - with joins, deaths and advancements.

The chat of your Minecraft server in a Discord channel, and the other way round - like EssentialsXDiscord, without a bot of its own. Players appear under their Minecraft name and skin head; a player whose account is linked to a member (with Minecraft Whitelist) as "Steve (@Nero)". Free.

Setting it up

  1. Connect your Minecraft server on this page (or on the Minecraft Whitelist page - it is the same connection): Connect a Minecraft server, download the plugin, paste the two lines into plugins/Pangobot/pangobot.properties. A server connected for the whitelist already is connected here too.
  2. Pick the chat channel and what is posted: chat messages, joins and leaves, deaths, advancements.
  3. Members write in that channel - the game shows it as [Discord] [Admin] Nero: hello within a second or two - with their highest role, in its colour (on Minecraft before 1.16, the nearest of the 16 old colours).

Settings

Everything you can set for this module in the dashboard, in the order the page shows it.

Limits

  • One chat channel for all connected Minecraft servers. At most one Discord post every 1.2 seconds; a line in the game is at most 200 characters.

Good to know

  • Paper, Spigot, Purpur and Folia post everything. On a proxy (BungeeCord, Waterfall, Velocity) the plugin sees the chat, joins and leaves of the whole network - deaths and advancements happen on the servers behind it, which the proxy does not see. Put the plugin on the proxy or on the servers, not both, or every line comes twice.
  • What a player writes goes through your AutoMod rules before it is posted - as a stranger's message, or as the linked member's. It never pings anybody (@everyone and mentions are broken up), and a linked member who is timed out says nothing in Discord. A Discord message AutoMod would remove is not shown in the game either.
  • Posts go out through a webhook, so each player has their own name and picture; without Manage Webhooks Pangobot posts them itself, as "Steve: hello". Several lines of one player are posted together, at most one post every 1.2 seconds. With more than one Minecraft server connected, each line says which server it comes from.
  • Messages of bots and webhooks, and messages with files or stickers, are not sent to the game. Mentions become names, custom emoji :name:; a line in the game is at most 200 characters.
  • Nothing of the chat is stored: it passes through and is gone. Lines Pangobot could not post within a minute or two are dropped, not posted late.

What the bot needs

  • View Channel and Send Messages in the chat channel; Manage Webhooks there for names and skin heads.
